2024 Regional Championship Finals

NZ Bridge is moving this event, previously known as the InterProvincials, to Wellington. It is scheduled to run from 29-Nov to 1-Dec. Regions have the choice of sending teams of either four or six players. See the attached advice from the Board.

Please note that the Finals have a huge impact on our finances. We will apply for a grant towards the costs, but there is no guarantee we will receive any funding. Therefore, please be aware that the region will only be able to fund accommodation on a twin-share basis.

NZ Bridge normally announces a travel subsidy for this event.

2023 Inter Provincial Teams results

The Regional Committee wishes to thanks all participants in the Interprovincial Finals held on-line last November. The Chef de Mission (Barry Jones) has reported that the Region finished third overall and that the Women’s teams was spectacularly successful. The non-playing Captains suggested that thought needs to be put into the third pair selection from Pairs Trials and that there should be Team practice and play prior to the Finals for players with limited Teams experience. This comment coupled with the desire for participation expressed by Clubs who attending the update day last October will be considered by the Regional Committee for the format of the trials in 2024.

Expressions of interest are requested for serving on the Waikato Bays Regional Committee

The normal appointment to this Committee is for two years before new elections, however for family and health reasons a number of the Committee have requested to stand down after one year. NZB has agreed to a refresh and already there are volunteers for the Committee and I thank Hugh McAlister (Tauranga) and Kevin Whyte (Cambridge/Hamilton) for their commitment.
