The Kelly Pierse Teams and Director Seminar at Rotorua

To be held on Saturday 8th February at the rooms of Rotorua Bridge Club in Neil Hunt Park on Tarawera Road. This iconic event 10A Teams event always attracts a large field. Be in early. Enter on the NZ Bridge site.

Following the 10A teams on Sunday 9th February, National Director Allan Joseph presents a seminar aimed at those wishing to help out at their local club by learning a bit about directing. This session comes at no charge to attendees from the Waikato-Bays region. Even those who do a little directing and wish to brush up their skills are welcome. Again, entries may be made on the NZ Bridge site.

Ruth Lewis and Trish Stephens take Gold!

Trish and RuthA fantastic achievement, playing against over thousand other pairs from clubs across New Zealand, Ruth and Trish took top place on the podium. With fourteen pairs playing in the event at Rotorua, Ruth and Trish won with a fantastic score of 69.35%.

When this score was evaluated by X-Clubs against everyone else who had played the same hands throughout New Zealand, they had done even better and increased their final score to 75.67%, leading the field by a clear 6%, a remarkable feat against such a high quality field.

Allan Morris updates us with a summary of what's been going on lately. The new Constitution has been registered and the revised Manual is under way. Congress was very successful with record numbers attending. Special mention of Michael Whibley being awarded for Best Declarer Play in the World for 2019. Upcoming in November is the Babich Simultaneous Pairs, the National Teams in Nelson and the IP's in Christchurch. A special word on clubs having a Health & Safety Policy - a template is available. Review of the roles and functions of RBM's and Regional Committees is under way. And changes to director training and assessment. It's all go Folks. Download the attachment for a good read.

Waikato-Bays Intermediate League Finalised

Joanne Swanick and Judith HowardCongratulations to Joanne Swanwick and Judith Howard from Matamata Bridge club who held on to their lead today, playing at Cambridge, in the eighth and final session of this year’s Intermediate Championships. Carol Crowfoot and Sabrina Peters from Thames took second place with Derek and Frances Rankin from Taupo in third place. Prizes totalling $1080 for the Leagues were presented by Michael Neels to the top ten players.

Waikato-Bays Junior League Finalised

Ronnie & Athol with Mike NeelsThe sixth and final round of the Waikato-Bays Junior League was taken out by Tauranga's Ronnie and Athol Ryan at Te Awamutu on Sunday 13th October. They finished with 27 points, 8 points ahead of second-placed clubmates Jill Stewart and Kathy Abel. Cambridge's Chris and Henny van Empel came third 2 points further back.

Well done to all those who competed at the Waikato Bays Interclub Finals over the weekend.

Waikato led the way with the most teams in contention and managed to convert two of those divisions into winning performances.
