Bermuda Bowl about to begin

Perhaps the most well-known event in world bridge, the Bermuda Bowl is about to take place from August 12-16 in Lyon, France. The playing schedule is attached below.

Something that is adding local flavour are the articles that Jane Stearns is putting up on the NZ Bridge Facebook page. Jane is doing in-depth profiles of various team members - Kris Wooles, Michael Cornell, Matt Brown, Jena and Christine Gibbons, Barry Plamer, and Steph Jacob have given fulsome interviews to date ... and they make fascinating reading.

Whip Around the Traps

Cambridge .. two Juniors made it through to the semifinals of the WB Rubber competition and went down gracefully to last year's winning GM's ... seminar from HeartSafe on the use of the AED (defibrillator) stored at the neighbouring St John's station. One is noticing a marked raising in awareness of these devices - saw Hamilton Bridge Club has its very own one.

Thank you once again to PUB CHARITY Ltd.

The Waikato Bays Regional Committee applied to Pub Charity Ltd for funding to assist our Inter-Provincial representative team with accommodation in Wellington at the end of the year.

We are very pleased to announce that the application was successful, having received $3166.09, which was the amount we applied for, minus the GST component. Thanks to Jan Spaans for his hard work in putting the application together.

Free Entry to Congress Anyone?

To encourage people who aren't regular congress goers, the Waikato Bays Regional Committee are sponsoring up to four people to NZ Congress to the value of $200 each. You can either self nominate to go into the draw ... or your club can nominate worthy recipients. Check out Anna's blog on the Piako site.
