New Tournament Entry Procedure

We're moving to a new model of streamlined tournament entry. Your committee encourages everyone to make their entries for mostly all tournaments on the NZ Bridge site. The only exceptions would be certain special events played at various centres - eg the Babich NZ-Wide Simultaneous Pairs - which may require entry on the host club websites.

The attendees themselves are exhorted to make this effort: it's simpler than writing an e-mail and cheaper than making a phone call. But before you can make an entry you have to be logged in to the NZB site. And .. before you can log in you must have registered your email address with NZB - it's a simple one-off process available when you click the Login button.

When you click on the Tournaments tab you'll see you can filter by date, club, or region. Find your tournament and click on its name to the left so you can see any detail that may be posted there. If there is no ENTER button showing then get onto the club involved and ask them to tick a single box so you can enter online (see last paragraph below).

Should entries be accepted off-line we ask that the Tournament Secretary take a moment to post them on the NZB site him/herself. It's not only quick and easy but also a spur to asking the attendees themselves to do this job.

This will mean that ALL entries can be seen in one place on-line by everyone, particularly the Tournament Secretary (a single definitive exportable list), the Scorer (for purposes of creating a pre-entry file) and the Treasurer who can flag (very visibly) those who have paid upfront ... but not least by the entrants themselves giving rise to the policy: If your entry is not showing on-line then you're NOT entered in the tournament.

If we can get everyone, particularly all Tournament Secretaries, to buy into this policy our Region can take another step forward for Bridge in New Zealand whilst supporting the efforts of the Board in providing this facility.

It is, of course, predicated by entries being opened by club administrators. This is a simple matter of, at a minimum, logging into NZB Admin, finding your tournament and ticking the Online Bookings box. There is, however, much more that can be done while here. See our green box to the right.
