First Round of Bay Pairs a Success for Whakatane

It was a great turn out for the first round of the Bay Pairs; great to see a lot of new faces as well as the regulars.

Well done to the winners on the day Kathy Yule and Kate Terry.

Top Junior pair on the day was Leonie Pritchard and Mark Bendall.

The best Intermediates were Cecily Munro pairing with Gloria Hawthorne who took out sixth place. Gloria - loved your bright red top!

The Whakatane Bridge Club were wonderful hosts, all were made welcome by President Riet Jansen. The workers in the kitchen provided a great morning tea and lunch. The Soups were fantastic.

Norm Silcock, as always, did a great job directing.

The next round of the Bay Pair will be played at the Tauranga Club on Sunday 17th May.

There is always plenty of seating for any new pairing (or old) to join us and compete, you will be made welcome.

A special thank you goes to the Mount Bridge Club who twice change their hosting date for this year's event. The Whakatane club thanks you - it's been quite a spell since we saw the club rooms so full.

Full results can be found on this site. Thanks to Ian and Jan for getting this sorted,

Looking forward to the next round,
