New Year's Honours Lists Celebrated

Several clubs note the advancement in Grade of their members with the new year. There are only three grades - Junior, Intermediate, Open and they change but once a year when the year-end annual calculations are performed and certain benchmarks are achieved.

Also produced at this time are the fourth quarter's Ranks Reports which can be the reason for much celebration. These reports are available on the NZ Bridge website.

But wait .. there's more. The annual calculations are really about Ratings which are an indication of a player's current form. These change only once a year and can tip a Junior with more than 30 rating points into the Intermediate grade or an Intermediate with more than 100 rating points into Open. The first week of January, then, is rather like the New Years Honours List for bridge players.

A couple of dates coming up at a great rate of knots ... James Ward on Pianola at Cambridge 7:30pm Thursday - all welcome. And Allan Morris on NZ Bridge's plans on Sunday 22nd ... 10am at Rotorua and 2pm at Cambridge. See below for details.
