Roundup - Week 47

Anna Kalma will be wearing yet another hat in 2017, having taken up the mantle of Waikato Area Pairs Manager vacated by Jane Stearns. Although Jane set the bar amazingly high, Anna has made a great start with this whimsical poster of a Mr Wappy van.

A reminder to all who may not have spotted it yet, that this site features a Virtual Notice Board (the blue square to the right) upon which we try to maintain posters for all tournaments in the whole region. This becomes much easier if clubs save their posters in dropbox/Waikato-Bays Clubs Info/Tournament Posters to which all clubs should have access.

The big event of the weekend just passed was the annual Inter-Provincial grudge matches hosted by the Otago Bridge Club in Dunedin. Results can be seen here but, for a quick summary: Open 2-0-10 (WDL) 6th, Womens 7-0-5 3rd, Seniors 7-0-5 6th, Intermediates 7-0-5 2nd. The Dougal MacLean trophy was presented to the Wellington Region as the highest-scoring team with 40 points.

If you want to see a pic of Huntly stalwarts Terry Wells and Hone Thomson out with the bulls, drinking Red Bull and doubtless talking bull check out the story of the club's end-of-year spectacular on the Huntly site.

Very sad news to close with the announcement on the Hamilton site of the passing of Mike Barton on Tuesday 29th November. Our sincere condolences to Cherie (nee Aston) who married Mike only in June of this year.
