WB Inter-Provincials Team Named

The Waikato-Bays Inter-Provincial Teams trials were held at the Tauranga Bridge club on the weekend of 14th-15th May. The director was Rona Driscoll also Chair of the WB committee and the scorer was Jan Spaans, the WB secretary. These two combined to make the whole weekend seamless and enjoyable by everyone.

The format was seven rounds of sixteen boards with Swiss draws after the first round. The field was comprised of eighteen aspirants for the Open, Womens, and Senior teams. Players from the Tauranga club filled nine of these twelve berths - an amazing result worthy of our sincere congratulations to the hosting club.

Owing to a disappointing response from Intermediate players, their trials were cancelled. The region's team of Tauranga's Hattie Curtis & Bruce Ballard and Hamilton's Mark Thomson & Jeffrey Chang was duly announced.
