Four-Way Tie for Winners of the WB Junior League

Mike, Angela, Megan, JaniceTe Awamutu Bridge Club hosted the final session of the 2018 Waikato Bays Junior Championship League on Sunday 14th October. It was always tight at the top with but a single point between the leading four going into the day. When the dust settled Tauranga's Mike and Angela Newton's second placing gave them that one more point they needed to tie with Megan Jolly and Janice Wilton of Hamilton. As this was an Individuals competition, Mike Neels of the WB Regional Committee had a bit of work to do in re-opening all the carefully prepared envelopes and redistributing the prize money before he could present the winners. There was also a tie for sixth place between Sharon Barton and Christine Judd both from Taupo. Don McPherson of Hamilton came fifth overall.

An excellent day was had by all 22 pairs, many of whom travelled considerable distances to compete in all six sessions of the League. Results for the day may be seen here. The event was well organised and run with Dallas Dagg from Hamilton directing. Her relaxed style contributed to a successful tournament which was enjoyed by all.
