A team of eight bridge enthusiasts from Hamilton, Waikato and Cambridge clubs have teamed up to broadcast The Bridge Zone. They hope to raise awareness of the game and encourage people to take part whilst engaging existing bridge players in topics of interest.

Hosted by Community Access Radio and broadcast on Free FM89 the crew of volunteers have learned how to create and record a radio show. Barry Jones and Mereana Cullen co-presented the first show. If you missed it – you can catch it by clicking here

Topics to be covered include the activities of the Bridge Blacks (the national bridge team) and the Bridge Jacks (the national Youth team) overseas, a round-up of the bridge results at local clubs, upcoming tournaments and results nationwide. For the everyday player there is discussion on partnership systems, play techniques, improving card play and thought patterns, bridge etiquette and ethics. Everything topical bridge goes under the microscope for debate and discussion.

Their weekly half hour programme The Bridge Zone is aired at 10.30am on Wednesdays and repeated at 6.30am on Thursdays. For more information on the show contact The Bridge Zone Crew at thebridgezone@outlook.com
