MEET THE INTERPROVINCIALS - Rachelle Pelkman

Rachelle was born in Auckland and attended St Cuthbert’s College and Selwyn College. She learned to play Bridge many years ago when Ailsa Hollis took lessons at her school and filled in when her friends needed a fourth player. Family commitments meant a break for about twenty years. When her daughter Rebecca started playing Bridge about four years ago Rachelle returned to the bridge table, now the whole family play. Rachelle’s preferred system is Acol which she plays at Tauranga, her home club.Rachelle PelkmanRachelle PelkmanRachelle has two very spoilt cats; her favourite flower is a peony which blooms for a short time around her birthday and spending time with her family is very important to her. She enjoys travelling and her most recent trip was from London to Rome on a small, slow boat cruise following the coast of France, Portugal, Spain and Italy. This is Rachelle’s first opportunity to represent W/Bays, as she has recently moved to the BOP. She has previously represented Auckland in the ladies’ team playing with Rebecca. We wish Rachelle good fortune in the Seniors Inter-Provincial Teams, we are sure she will live up to the challenge.
