Team Foidl takes a First in the Kelly Pierse

Congratulations to Gary Foidl/Brett Glass and Mark Robinson/Sylvester Riddell for winning the Waikato Bays Kelly Pierse Memorial Teams. Hosted by Rotorua, this iconic 10A Teams event is run annually and named in memory of Kelly Pierse who died in a tragic car accident in 2001. This year the occasion attracted 24 teams with players from as far away as Wellington.

Coming a close second just 0.7VP behind the winning 84VP was Team Jarvis - Grant Jarvis /David Ackerley with Jo & Sam Simpson. They were followed by Team Solomon on 80.12VP. The tournament was directed by Tony Morcom and scored by Jan Spaans. The hosts turned on their usual high standard of catering topped off by a magnificent buffet tea at the end.

By special request Neil Dravitski, who survived the same accident that killed Kelly, has provided the attached article about her life. At the end, with typical modesty, he takes full credit/blame for providing the victors their winning margin in making a rare slip-up in the defense.
