NZ Bridge Switches on its New Website

Under development for some time, the new-look website for NZ Bridge appeared quietly in the second week of January.

A major change on the new site is the ring-fencing of the Masterpoints section in a user-only area. To access your own data and that of others it is now necessary to first register as a user on the My NZB page .. a one-off job. Full detail on this tricky process can be found by clicking here.

Subsequent access to the new site will then become only one click if the Remember Me box has been ticked and your browser instructed to remember your password. Once logged in, clicking the tab anytime brings up a bright new presentation of your own stats and offers the usual searches for anyone else.

A great innovation is the on-line presentation of the national tournament schedule which may be searched by filtering on month, club, and/or region. This beats the downloading of Excel spreadsheets hands down!

Finding clubs is now fully featured on the Clubs page where, again, you can filter by Region or Club. Selecting a club from the list presented brings up a whole page of contact information which also includes a map and listings of all tournaments scheduled.

The new site signals the Board's intent to both engage in greater marketing of the game and interface with bridge players. And not just affiliated players - there is also the beginnings of a list of unaffiliated clubs. It would be interesting to get some membership numbers of these as we try to assess the health of the game in New Zealand.
