What's been happening lately on the region's websites

The Rotorua site is seeking to update the personal information of its members. This is both topical and typical for clubs at this time of year as they prepare to print their 2018 programme books. There is a quite brilliant feature in Compass that not many people have tried though it's been there for a while. In the Club database under the EMail Options tab there is a function to email or print for all members a personal dump of just what data is held on them by Compass. This seems a pretty good way of getting everything squeaky-clean at any time.

There is an article on the Cambridge site about another of Bridget Jane's (aka Jane Stearns) epic tours down-country. This time Jane's mission was to address the Canterbury Regional Conference in her new role as member of the NZB board and visit the Temuka and Waimate clubs who are in need of the attentions of newly-appointed Regional Bridge Mate Richard Williams.

The annual Labour Weekend Congress was held very successfully by the Hamilton club. New World Te Rapa were the major sponsors. Run under the auspices of the WBRC, the 10A Teams was won by Team Ware - Michael Ware, Grant Jarvis, and Ian Berrington from Auckland with John Skipper of Christchurch. Several clubs are preparing for their Christmas Parties (OMG - is it that time of year already?). We have Thames, Te Awamutu, Waikato, Rotorua, and Huntly on successive weekends from 12th of November. And don't forget the Babich NZ-wide simultaneous pairs fast approaching on 3rd of November.

The WB Junior Leagues series of six events was wrapped up recently at Te Awamutu. Charlotte Jager of Te Aroha won the series. The final of the WB Intermediate League will be held at Cambridge this coming weekend. The Te Aroha club is making quite a name for itself having risen, phoenix-like, from the brink of closure some five years ago. That was the start of the path that has led to the inception of the Regional Bridge Mate scheme as Jane Stearns seeks to duplicate her excellent works country-wide.

Great quote of the week on the Tauranga site.
