Grade Teams Final thrashed out at Cambridge

Teams from each end of the region gathered at Cambridge on the last Sunday of August to sort out who would be taking home the three Grade Trophies. This was the final stanza of what started off as the Inter-Club Teams in the Waikato, and the Bay Teams in the Bay of Plenty. The winning and runner-up teams in each grade from each region met in Cambridge to play in three parallel round-robins of three 16-board matches. An Intermediate and a Junior team came all the way from Whakatane, and a couple of Intermediate teams traveled from Thames and Taupo. Teams from the local clubs of Hamilton, Waikato, Morrinsville, and Te Aroha met others from Rotorua and Tauranga. The Cambridge club were the genial hosts.
