Staying Alive

Listeners of The Bridge Zone Show will know of Professor Samantha Punch's innovative work in exploring the sociology of bridge. Working at Stirling University in Scotland Professor Punch oversees a PhD research project in an emerging academic field exploring interactions within the mind sport, well-being, healthy ageing and social connection as experienced in the bridge world. The report of the first four months of this project undertaken by her student, Kevin Judge, is attached below.

As part of the ongoing drive to keep the game alive a crowdfunding site has been created. It has so far raised nearly one quarter of its 45,000 pound target. Could this be an avenue we might explore here in New Zealand?
