Allan Joseph Delivers Seminars for Directors

Allan's mantra for the recently introduced Law 23 concerning Comparable Calls is ... "The same, similar, or more precise meaning or a call of similar purpose".

The Cambridge club hosted one of Allan Joseph's two director's seminars over the first weekend in February. Sponsored by the Waikato Bays Regional Committee, at no cost to members and with lunch provided, twenty keen bridge players from several clubs in the area attended. Allan was welcomed and introduced by Vicki, the Cambridge President.

Allan's presentation was entertaining, detailed, informative and covered all the recent changes to the NZ Bridge laws. By encouraging all those present to participate, using direct questioning, Allan ensured we were all listening!! With a series of excellent visual aids and individual handouts relating to all the areas we had covered the recipients went away feeling better informed and with more knowledge of the recent changes.

Allan was assisted by Michael Neels, who made his deliberate mistakes with abandon at the bridge table, challenging all of us to find the correct rulings, as 'trainee directors'. Many thanks to the Cambridge members who organised the lunch and those who provided morning coffee and afternoon tea, greatly appreciated at the time! My thanks also to the sponsors, I am sure this course was greatly appreciated by all present.
